April 18, 2015

Wexford vs Westmeath.

Wexford 2-14
Westmeath 2-11

Wexford recovered from the concession of two quick-fire goals in the second half to beat Westmeath in this afternoon's Leinster MFC first round encounter at Innovate Wexford Park.

Favoured by the breeze in the first half, the hosts led by 0-5 to 0-2 after 15 minutes and by 0-9 to 0-4 at the break.

But the game suddenly came to life after the restart when Moate All-Whites' Billy Berry scored two goals in the space of a minute to propel Aidan Lennon's charges into a 2-6 to 0-10 lead.

However, the Model men refused to panic and responded with goals from Mark Rossiter (1-9) and Shane Doyle to book their place in the quarter-finals on May 16.
