Donegal have no option but to mix up their style of play if they are to continue their winning ways according to Karl Lacey.

Their success of recent years has been been built on defensive, counter attacking football but they were beaten at their own game by Kerry in last September's All-Ireland final and, speaking to The Irish News, centre-back Lacey revealed: "There's certain things that Rory (Gallagher) is working on differently.

"I'm sure it's not going to change too much and every team nearly seems to be going the same way now anyway.

"But I do think one thing we need to learn is that teams are starting to play like us so we need to know how to play against that as well.

"In other years, teams weren't playing like us so we could just play our own game. Now we need to be able to play against it as well.

"You saw what happened in the All-Ireland final. Kerry played very similar to us and we weren't able to deal with it so that's one big lesson that we need to take out of last year and bring it into this year."

He added: "People will say, 'why change if you're doing things well?' But as I said, other teams are doing things against you now so you have to adapt and it's up to us to do the video work and see exactly what other teams are doing and to adapt."
