Cribbin eyes winning start

Westmeath manager Tom Cribbin believes that it is imperative that they get off to a winning start in the National League.

The Midlanders host Laois at Cusack Park on Sunday afternoon and the bookies have both sides as favourites for the drop to division three.

A fifteen-month losing streak came to an end when winning two games in the O'Byrne Cup earlier this month and confidence in the side is growing.

And Cribbin admitted to the Westmeath Independent that both sides will see it as a must win game.

"Both teams are probably looking at it as a 'must win'. Winning or losing it could mean the difference between ourselves in the last game of the league looking for promotion, or the opposite. You have to win your home matches."
