Celtic manager Neil Lennon has given Jim McGuinness permission to put all his energies into retaining the Sam Maguire over the next couple of months.

The Donegal manager is employed as a performance consultant by the Glasgow giants, but former Armagh minor footballer Lennon has given him the green light to concentrate exclusively on the remainder of the Tir Chonaill men's championship campaign.

"I see Jim every day when he's here. He sits basically just outside my office. I had a good long chat with him when I came back from Portugal," Lennon explained to the Irish Daily Star.

"Basically, I'd like Jim to be a little less involved because I'd like him to concentrate on Donegal for the time being and as we're getting into the teeth of the season round October and November Jim can really do his stuff again.

"We're really happy with the stuff he's bringing to the younger lads - we'll see the benefits of that in a year or two's time."
