Malachy Mackin believes Armagh should have finished Cork off.

The Orchard County battled back bravely against the 14-man Rebels at the Athletic Grounds on Sunday, buoyed by Man of the Match Mackin's relocation from full forward to midfield, and the Cullyhanna clubman says in today's Irish News that the two points were there for the rejuvenated hosts:

"In the second half, the game was there for the taking. We were the stronger team in the second half. We got back into it once the boys started believing in themselves.

"It took a while - maybe 20 minutes - before the boys started playing their own game. We had a lot of young boys out there and they had to learn fast.

"You need to have confidence at this level because, if you don't, teams like Cork and Dublin will punish you. You need to believe in yourself.

"From 20 minutes into the game I think we showed that we have guts and character. After the first 20 minutes, I think we would have taken a draw, but by the end I thought we were definitely the stronger team."
