McCann praises Antrim resolve

Antrim's Tomas McCann
Tomas McCann was full of praise for Antrim's battling qualities after his last-gasp winning free gave them a dramatic victory over Sligo.

"We left it late, but the hard work we have been doing stood to us," the wing forward said.

"We are trying to be mentally strong and we were out there when we needed to be. We stuck to our task when we fell behind in the second half and we pushed on. Maybe in the past some Antrim teams might not have come back in the closing stages. They might have switched off.

"We had to work very hard to get back in front in the closing stages, but this was a complete team performance.

"I was comfortable enough kicking that free into the wind. I took it off the ground, for better accuracy, since I was hitting into the wind - it was good to see it go over."
