Former Mayo manager John Maughan feels that the county are improving, but stated an All-Ireland is still beyond them.

Maughan got a close look at his former charges last weekend when Mayo defeated a NUIG side managed by Maughan in the FBD League final and he feels that the county has made great strides.

"They'll be in the top five in the country," he told the Irish Independent. "Will they win the All-Ireland? Probably not, but there's no doubt that their graph is going very much the right way and if they get a few lucky breaks, who knows what might happen?

"I'd certainly expect them to win the Connacht title again. I think they're ahead of the rest in Connacht, including Galway, who are in transition." Tweet
