Coughlan rues missed opportunity
March 18, 2010
Kilmurry-Ibrickane captain Enda Coughlan made no attempt to hide his disappointment after yesterday's AIB All-Ireland club football final defeat by St. Gall's.
"It's tough out there. We are disappointed. Things didn't go right for us in the first half and we were facing a battle after that," he said.
"I think once we didn't win it, it is not worth a damn being here, to be honest. We came up to win it and we didn't win it. As far as I am concerned, it is not just a day out."
Selector Gerard McCarthy was taking a much different view: "It's great to be here lads, it's been a great journey.
"Naturally, we'd love if the history was different and if we'd won this one. But that's the way it is. That's football and that's sport and you take the good days with the bad."
