There's a question mark hanging over Donie Kingston's inter-county future after it emerged that he is taking an indefinite break from the Laois football squad.

The Irish Independent is reporting that the star forward will be unavailable for the O'Moore County's Allianz League Division 4 campaign and could miss the entire 2018 campaign. The paper is also reporting that the 27-year-old will spend the next few months playing basketball instead.

Newly-appointed Laois manager John Sugrue says the "door will be open" for Kingston to return. Better news for Sugrue is confirmation that veterans Brendan Quigley and Ross Munnelly - who is the last remaining link with the 2003 Leinster SFC winning team - are to continue playing for another year.
