Mick McGrath is Donegal's new chairman

Donegal could be in a position to announce their new senior football manager as early as next week.

That is according to the Donegal Democrat who report that the interviews for the position will be completed tonight (Friday) and the committee selected to find a replacement for Rory Gallagher will then decide on which candidate they prefer.

The provincial paper reports two of the three candidates Declan Bonner and Cathal Corey have been interviewed already and the third candidate Shaun Paul Barrett will be interviewed tonight.

The five-man committee believed to be consisting of county board chairman Sean Dunnion, secretary Aidan Gillen, treasurer Ciaran Kelly, Paddy Carr and Damien Diver have been busy over the last few weeks.

Earlier this week, Gary McDaid and Seamus 'Banty' McEnaney pulled out of the race to replace Gallagher with both being linked to underage roles in their respective native counties.
