Club Eirne notes

December 11, 2014

Having served Fermanagh with distinction on the pitch, three of the key players involved in the memorable run to the 2004 All Ireland semi-final are now giving the county their support off the pitch.
All Star Marty McGrath, Niall Bogue and Colm Bradley are all part of the new Club Eirne committee , the group who are tasked with raising funds for Fermanagh GAA.
The group will hold a Club Eirne re-launch night in the Enniskillen Hotel on Tuesday December 16 at 8pm.
Colm Bradley, who has been elected as Club Eirne Secretary, commented: "Everyone knows that it takes significant financial investment to be a successful GAA county. With a clear plan that involves enhancements of youth coaching as well as a commitment to excellence at senior level we can move forward. With everyone working together, and a clear vision for the future in place we can raise the funds needed to see that vision realised."

Fermanagh's exploits in 2004 saw midfielder Marty McGrath finish the year as an All Star and he is delighted to be involved. "When I was asked to get involved I had no hesitation. We, as a county, have to have a long term plan and that means having the right structures in place with regards the development of youth. Our young players of today will be our senior players of tomorrow and our goal has to be to try and make sure that our players are the best they can be, you can't ask any more than that. We all want Fermanagh to do well, but I know from my playing days that to achieve that, it is essential that our teams are properly prepared, from senior down to youth levels, and to do that takes money," he said.

Club Eirne newly elected Chairman, Ger Treacy, has called on all those with Fermanagh GAA in their heart to come along on December 16th and give their support.
"I firmly believe this is the commencement of an exciting phase in the history of Fermanagh football and through Club Eirne there is room for everyone to play their part. Those who really want to see our young people getting an opportunity to be the best they can be, who want to see our facilities developed and all our teams prepared as well as every other county need to come along to the Enniskillen Hotel on Tuesday 16th December at 8.00pm and support the re-launch of Club Eirne. The time for talking is over, now is a time for positive action by positive people who have the welfare of Fermanagh GAA in their hearts," he stated.
