Highly regarded football coach and former Tyrone star Aidan McCarron believes that Fermanagh club football is up there with the best in the country.

McCarron is better placed than most to judge the standard of Fermanagh football as he has played club level there and Tyrone, while his role as a coach has seen him working in the counties mentioned as well as Longford, Cavan and Leitrim.

Speaking to the Fermanagh Herald he said: "I think Fermanagh people have a bad opinion of club football in the county. I wouldn't say it is the strongest I have seen but it is definitely not the weakest and I think Fermanagh people can look at other counties and think that club football is much stronger there.

"I would like to know how much club football people are watching who say Fermanagh are so poor because the reality is that Fermanagh club football is on a par with a lot of what I have seen." Tweet
