Barney Rock has great memories of playing against Cork during his illustrious gaelic football career with the Dubs.

The 1983 All-Ireland semi-final final draw and replay are two games that spring to mind.

The three-time All-Star rescued a draw for the Dubs the first day out and scored 1-4 in the replay down in Pairc Ui Chaoimh.

"They were some great games back in our days, there were great games in the '90s between Dublin and Cork," he recalled when speaking to The Irish Daily Star. "There were great games in the 2000s between Dublin and Cork.

"Cork beat Dublin (0-12 to 1-7) in a League final in 1999 down in Cork so these two teams always seem to play good football.

"They always want to do that and they tend to be very good matches."

His son Dean will wearing the sky blue jersey this weekend - how does Rock senior think the latest installment of this long-standing rivalry will go?

"It will be an open game and if Dublin get a few goals, they will be in with a great chance.

"Cork are the highest goalscoring in the League and they're great at getting them so it will be a big test for the full-back line to stop them."
