The sudden passing of Dave Billings of St Vincent's, UCD and Dublin fame has been met with shock and sadness.
As a player, the St Vincent's clubman lined out for both the Dublin footballers and hurlers in the seventies - winning an All-Ireland SFC medal in 1974 as part of Kevin Heffernan's illustrious panel.
His various stints in management included the Dublin under-21 footballers, various UCD teams, most notably the senior hurlers, as well as temporarily looking after the Dublin senior hurlers.
He was Paul Caffrey's right hand man during Pillar's four year term as Dublin senior football manager and also acted as a selector during Tommy Lyons' three year stint.
Billings' enthusiasm for gaelic games knew no bounds and, as Gaelic Games Executive in UCD, he was responsible for the development of all gaelic games on campus.
He will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of coming across him.
Awful news to hear death of Davy Billings. Davy had an incredible passion for GAA & had a huge impact on Dublin GAA throughout his life. RIP
