Erin Go Bragh Hurlers Secure Back to Back League Titles

October 17, 2014

Erin Go Bragh Adult Hurlers secured back to back league promotions this Sunday with a comprehensive victory over St. Peregrines. EGB knew that a win from their last two games would guarantee a first place finish in Division 8 but took nothing for granted against a Peregrines team battling to keep their Division 8 status. Erin go Bragh started strongly winning possession in midfield but the early nerves showed with a number of  wides giving St. Peregrines a chance to stay in touch albeit only temporarily. It wasn't long before the EGB forwards found their rhythm and took control. Goals from Robert and Aidan Watson and points from Damien O'Donohue, Patrick Quinn, Kevin Larkin gave EGB a comfortable lead at half time of 3-9 to a 0-1.

Although well in control at half time EGB did not ease up in the second half with midfielders David Kennedy and Colm Gaughan continuing to feed the forwards, with Aidan Watson leading by example with an empassioned performance spurring on his team-mates. The performance was an example of the commendable attributes of a team that has lost only one league game over the past two seasons, selfless and relentless hassling and harrying from the front six wearing down the opposition coupled with the direct and merciless score-taking. Credit to Karl and John for having the twenty plus members of the squad fit, organised and performing consistently well over the last ten months.
