O'Carroll leaves Dublin panel

Dublin's Rory O'Carroll
Rory O'Carroll has withdrawn from the Dublin football panel ahead of next Sunday's Leinster SFC final against Kildare. The 19-year-old Kilmacud Crokes dual star, who made his championship debut at corner back in the semi-final demolition of Westmeath, has informed Dublin manager Pat Gilroy of his plans to go travelling. The younger brother of Dublin hurler Ross O'Carroll will play in Wednesday week's Leinster under 21 hurling final against Kilkenny before leaving the country to travel. It is believed he wants to take a break from GAA after what has already been a long season for him with Kilmacud Crokes, who won the All-Ireland club title on St. Patrick's Day. O'Carroll's decision to leave the country could result in a recall for Alan Hubbard to the Dublin full back line for the clash with the Lilywhites, while the versatile Paddy Andrews is also likely to come into the reckoning.
