Kieran Donaghy reckons Mayo could cause an upset against Dublin tomorrow.

Despite being Dublin's toughest opponents in recent years, the Westerners have been widely written off, but Donaghy isn't ruling them out.

"Logic dictates that Dublin will beat Mayo tomorrow," the former Kerry full forward wrote in his Irish Daily Star column.

"They are fresher, better, don't have anything like the amount of injuries, and are seasoned winners - both on and off the pitch. But sometimes logic goes out the window. Sometimes, you just get a feeling that a team's time has come - and I feel Mayo will take down the Dubs.

"It will take career performances from a few players for it to happen, but that's what it takes on the biggest days. Whatever kind of breed they are, Mayo respond best when their backs are to the wall. Can anyone really see Colm Boyle, Andy Moran, Kieth Higgins and a couple of others getting many more shots at the big one?

"So it's do or die, and that's the way they like it. They bring a serious physical edge to games and it's one of the reasons why they've given Dublin so many problems over the years."

Donaghy added: "The easy call is for Dublin to win comfortably, but I'm going with the hard call. Mayo to take a huge scalp and give their supporters another special day out."
