Dublin goalkeeper Stephen Cluxton took up an unfamiliar role for his club Parnells in their senior football championship opener against St Sylvester's tonight.
The five-time All-Ireland winner lined-out at centre half-back in Balgriffin as Parnells went down 0-19 to 0-6 to a Sylvester's outfit which had mounted a commanding eight-point lead at the half.
In Garristown, St Oliver Plunketts Eoghan Ruadh missed the injured Bernard Brogan's influence as they went down to the Brian Fenton-led Raheny by 3-8 to 0-14 in their Group 1 opener.
Tomorrow sees two double-headers taking place in the capital, with last year's beaten finalists Ballymun Kickhams opening their campaign against St Brigid's at Parnell Park:
Kilmacud Crokes v Ballyboden St Enda's (Group 1) in Parnell Park at 5.45pm
Ballymun Kickhams v St Brigid's (Group 4) in Parnell Park at 4.00pm
St Judes v Ballinteer St John's (Group 3) in O'Toole Park at 4.00pm
Castleknock v Clontarf (Group 4) in O'Toole Park at 5.45pm
