Benny Coulter isn't ruling out the prospect of a return to the Down fold in 2016.

The Mayobridge forward brought the curtain down on his 14-year senior inter-county career at the age of 32 last November, but hinted in his Newry Democrat column this week that he could come out of retirement.

"With regards to the age-old question surrounding my own future, I guess you can never say never," he wrote.

"As I was watching those (Down) championship games, it made me feel that I'd love to be out playing, and, really, it got the juices flowing again and got the passion going again for it, so in that respect, you can never say never in football."
