*   The Seniors had a great 'Trocaire Down GAA IFC Quarter-Final' match last Monday evening in Pairc Esler when they played and defeated Division 1 team Liatroim.  This was a great game filled with spirit and a lot of ups and downs.  Ballymartin Came out strong and although it took five minutes to score, once they started they never let up.  At one point Ballymartin were six points ahead and dominating the play on all fronts.  Then 'out of the blue' Liatroim filled the Ballymartin net with a smashing drive from Middleton, leaving Big Paddy Greene stunned, so shocked was Paddy that he let one more slip past within a minute or so of play.  Ballymartin went into the half trailing by a point (Ballymartin 0-09 vs. 2-04 Liatroim).  In the second half Ballymartin made sure they weren't going to falter, Big Paddy made a tremendous save and with Cathal Doyle and Ryan O'Hare both notching up five points a piece the lads had secured their Semi-Final spot; Final score Ballymartin 0-20 vs. 2-11 Liatroim, with Ballymartin creating seventeen scores from play!  They now meet An Riocht in the Semi-Final on Saturday 20 September in Pairc Esler @ 5PM (Referee: Fearghal Laverty), as part of a double header: Longstone vs. Burren @ 6:30PM (Referee: Paul Falloon).
*   On Sunday past the Reserves clocked up a win against Mayobridge in their Round 9 of the South Down RFL, winning a in spectacular fashion, when past County Player and current Club Manager Mr. Paul Higgins dawned the Ballymartin Jersey and came on as a sub and filled the back of the Mayobridge net to secure the win.  Paul commented that "If Mickey thinks he's the only one that can play from 'the era', well hello Scoreboard".  After the Referee (Neill Cousins), blew the final whistle - Ballymartin 4-09 vs. 4-04 Mayobridge, leaving the player - coach with a big smile on his face.  This finishes the RFL with Ballymartin sitting on top with 9 wins and only one loss during the season.  Congratulations to the Coaches and Players for a great effort all year!

*   Unfortunately the Ballymartin Ladies Ulster match against Four Corners Donegal was cancelled over the weekend due a dispute in the Donegal finals.  This match has been postponed until approx the first week of October 2014.
*   U-16 'B' Ladies Championship Semi-Finals too place on Sunday past, when Ballymartin hosted Rostrevor in a thrilling and nail-biting competition.  Pat's Road was up to its usual tricks with strong and gusting winds, which gave the Ballymartin girls the glory in the first half as they played with the wind and going to the break Ballymartin led 4-02 vs. 1-01 Rostrevor.  After the switch and playing into the wind the girls ran out of steam, with a the ball only travelling 20meteres into the gusting wind it was hard to maintain possession.  To this we have the ever-present Erin Rogers and the strong willed Taylor Poland along side Katie Smith and Laura Cunningham who kept the ball moving forward.  With assistance from Orla, Ciara and Naimbh, Ballymartin had to fight tooth and nail to keep Rostrevor from out scoring them.  This job was left to the brave Fiona Cunningham who made several brilliant saves that ultimately kept the 'Whites' in the lead.  The Final score Ballymartin 4-04 vs. 3-05 Rostrevor.  This was a great performance by all including the ever smiling Claire and Declan.  The ladies will play the winners; either Burren or St. John Bosco who played on Monday evening.
