FOOTBALL
Clonduff Senior Footballers out of Championship
Clonduff Senior Footballers failed to reproduce their recent form in the Championship QF v Kilcoo in Pairc Esler on Monday night (8th September). If the forwards had been able to find their range, Clonduff would have been well ahead at the interval but they trailed 0-4 to 0-6. It was more of the same in the second half but the neighbours had no such problem - they added 1-5 to Clonduff's solitary point.
Team and scorers: Gary Haughian, Kevin Smith, Eamon O'Reilly, Rory McQuaid, Darren O'Hagan (0-1), Mark McPolin, Connor Brown, Aidan Carr, Damien Canning, Conor Óg O'Hagan (0-1), Shane Ward, Bernard Branagan, Barry O'Hagan (0-1,f), Jason Brown (0-2,f), Arthur McConville; Subs used: Patrick O'Hagan, Karl O'Hagan, John McPolin, Paudie Brown, Finbarr McConville, Paul Lively

RFC CLONDUFF III 1-14 BRYANSFORD III 1-14
Clonduff got the first three scores on the board but thereafter there was little between these two side in a pulsating final in Pairc Esler on Friday night. Right from the throw-in Clonduff had a man black-carded but the replacement, a Minor, was a very worthy one. Clonduff led 0-9 to 0-7 at half time. Young Conor Murray was tripped in the square which earned a penalty which Marty Farnon dispatched low and hard to the corner of the net. That put Clonduff five points up and perhaps they should have pushed on but disaster befell them in the form of a very harsh red card and completed the next 18 mins a man down. With a point between the sides Bryansford raced through the middle and fired the ball to the back of the net to move two points ahead, but to their great credit they gathered themselves up and fired over three unanswered points to go one ahead. The 'Ford won a long-range free which was pumped into the square having been moved forward for non-release. The ball was punched over the bar to leave it all square and if the replay produces anything like the drawn game we are in for another great treat! Well done lads!
Team: Paul Gribben, Cathal Trainor, Jamie Fegan (Capt), Francis Quinn, Stephen Branagan, Paul McConville, Niall O'Hare, Darragh Sherry, Oliver Branagan, Marty Farnon (Vice Capt), Aaron Sherry, Rory McGreevy, Eugene Branagan, Patrick Matthews, Connor Murray; Subs used: Noel Grant, Liam Ward, Shane McGreevy

CAMOGIE
ALL IRELAND Premier Junior FINAL
What a great day for the Camogs of Down on Sunday afternoon when they collected the Kay Mills Cup. Every single girl played her part and showed great character in coming from three points down to score seven in a row to collect the title. Five of the seven Clonduff girls started - Fionnuala & Sara Louise Carr, Karen & Paula Gribben and Lisa McPolin. The subs included Nicola O'Hagan and Clare McGilligan. The team is, of course, managed by Clonduff man Alistair McGilligan.

Down U14 Camogs parade in Croke Park
Down U14Camogie team had the honour of parading as part of the 1,100 strong contingent of girls from all over the country who at half time in the Senior Final on Sunday afternoon. The girls had participated in the National Blitz on Saturday. The Down team included four Clonduff girls - Ellen Kelly, Beth Fitzpatrick, Ellen Lively and Clara Cowan. Well done girls
Congratulations to our Neighbours Mayobridge who were selected to play in the mini games at half time in the Down v Laois final and they also picked up the 'Best Banner' award.

HURLING
MHC B FINAL - CARRYDUFF V CLONDUFF
Hard luck to Clonduff Minor Hurlers in the B Championship on Wednesday night in Downpatrick v Carryduff. They just didn't get going in the first half and Carryduff led 6-8 to 0-2 at the break. Talk about a game of two halves! The Yellas were a different side in the second half. They fought for and won nearly everything, scored 2-5 and held the opposition to 0-5.
The second half showed exactly the kind of Hurling they are capable of producing but after the disastrous first half they had left themselves too high a mountain to climb. Most of the boys are first year Minor and if they stick together and keep up the hard work, success is not far away.
This same group of lads annexed the League back in July.
