There are just five teams left in the Down SFC race ahead of tonight's final quarter-final between holders Kilcoo and Clonduff at Pairc Esler.

Three teams - Burren, Longstone and Mayobridge - secured their places in the last four with victories at the weekend. Second half goals from county star Donal O'Hare and Sean Murdock eased last year's runners-up Burren to a 2-13 to 0-11 win over Castlewellan.

The victory came at a cost, however, after Darren Rooney was issued with a straight red card in the closing stages.

On Saturday evening in Downpatrick, Mayobridge accounted for Frank Dawson's Bryansford on a 1-15 to 1-8 scoreline. With Benny Coulter in inspirational form at midfield, the 'Bridge were always in control after scoring the first five points. Caolan Gallagher and Kevin O'Rourke posted 0-6 and 1-2 respectively for the winners.

In the other quarter-final on Friday evening, Michael Ireland's late fisted point handed Longstone a 1-11 to 1-10 victory over Saval.
