Condolences to Sean O'Hare and his Family on the untimely death of their mother

Many congratulations to all the dancers, the teacher/choreographer Shane Berger, and the legions of volunteers who helped in any way to make our Marquee Festival weekend the success it was. Thanks to all involved, especially the u14 Ladies and the Minor footballers who helped out on Sunday morning

Congratulations also to our Senior Footballers who have reached the Championship QF defeating Ballyholland on Sunday - then some of them (Shane and Bernard) took part in the Clonduff Come Dancing on Sunday night!

Congratulations also to Down Camogs on reaching the All Ireland Final following their win over Roscommon on Sunday evening - and then Paula Gribben after playing her heart out on the pitch danced her legs off in Clonduff Come Dancing later that night (partnering Bernard)

Best wishes to our Minor Footballers (Tue), Thirds Footballers (Wed) and Minor Hurlers (Sun) all involved in big games in the coming week - Minor Footballers play Burren in Championship to decide who tops the group; Thirds play Clann na Banna II in the long-delayed Felix Darby Cup; Minor Hurlers play Carryduff in B Championship Final

FRIENDS OF CLONDUFF MARQUEE FESTIVAL WEEKEND THURSDAY 21ST - SUNDAY 24TH AUGUST 2014
The festival weekend started on Thursday night with the Poker Night held in the Clubrooms to accommodate the dress rehearsal for the dancers. It was a long night with some very intense play at times. It was a 'feather in the cap' for the Ladies with Eleanor McClean collecting the top prize. Other prizewinners on the night were Paul Grant, Paddy McCabe and Jerome himself! Many thanks to Jerome Lynch for organising the event and Colm 'the Butcher' Morgan for overseeing the night's proceedings.
On Friday night it was the Turn of the Teens with the UV Glow in the Dark Disco. It was a great success with very positive vibes from the young disco-goers. Many thanks to our face-painters and to P&K Coaches for organising the transport from other areas and Laureen on the burgers.
'The Lego Movie' drew a great crowd of youngsters, their parents, grandparents, Aunties and Uncles not only to experience the Movie in onesies, sleeping bags and blankets but also the hot chocolate, pop corn and Luareen's burgers.
The main event was, of course, Clonduff Come Dancing with eight couples (one withdrawal through illness) strutting their stuff - the culmination of months of hard work. Following the traditional group dance who set the mood for the night, a very young group who attended Shane Berger's Dance Camp in Clonduff Clubrooms, took the stage while the couples changed for their individual dances. They were amazing - we do know Shane can work miracles but he had very responsive pupils!
The comperes for the night were Francis Quinn and Christina McConville who kept the show on the road with great wit and banter. The judges were local ladies Lorraine McGinn and Karen Doherty along with the now retired Down Goalkeeper and winner of An Riocht's Strictly Brendan McVeigh. They were joined by Micheál Magill Entertainments Manager and former Down All Ireland Winning Footballer (married to Clonduff lady). They had a great rapport among themselves and with the dancers and the comperes.
The individual dance routines were amazing with Michelle McPolin and Ciarán Killen setting the standard for the rest to follow. They were followed by Patricia Brown and Gary Woods, then Paula Gribben and Bernard Branagan, with Joanne Mullen and Brian Ward taking us to the halfway stage. Then it was the 'bandages and blood' nurse and barber duo of Orla Maginn and Declan 'Nippo' McGarry; they were followed by the 'blow-in' from The Stone and the 'blow-out' to The Bridge, Pauline McConville and Lorcan Mussen. The penultimate couple was Maria McConville and Shane Ward with El 'Polercise' Fegan and Bridge man Fergal Quinn bringing up the rear!
What a show! The couples were all winners on the night! But in order to crown a champion a system had to be devised which combined judges marks, audience votes and sponsorship. The results were very close and whilst everyone who was on the stage was a winner the eventual Clonduff Come Dancing Champions 2014 is Bernard Branagan and Paula Gribben!

FOOTBALL
Senior Football Championship 3rd Group Game - Ballyholland 1-4 v Clonduff 3-17
Clonduff need to win this game by at least one point whilst a draw would suffice for Ballyholland. The first half was rather dire and Ballyholland led 1-3 to 0-4 at half time. Whatever happened or was said in the dressing room had the desired effect. Clonduff put on a powerful display scoring 3-13 whilst holding the opposition to a single point. They finish runners up in the group and meet neighbours Kilcoo in the quarter final.

CAMOGIE NEWS
Senior Championship Semi Finl Clonduff 2-8 v Liatroim 1-10
This was a pretty forgettable encounter at Kilcoo where the wind really spoiled any chance of an attractive game of Camogie.  The game will be remembered for many reasons; Karen Gribben's equalising overhead volley, Sara Louise Carr's equalising point or young Jenna Boden's performance at full back but overall in a game where Clonduff looked dead and buried and where nothing seemed to work for them the sheer determination by the players, to never give up until the final whistle, was both amazing and admirable.  This game will undoubtedly stand to the players and to the management, who deserve great credit; but for the supporters along the bank in Kilcoo on Sunday I don't believe they would want to go through that rollercoaster of emotions too many times.  A hearty congratulation to Robert, Eileen and the whole panel and roll on the County Final on Sat 20th Sept where Clonduff will play Portaferry.
Clonduff Scorers: Karen Gribben (1-01), Fionnuala Carr (1-0), Sara Louise Carr (0-03), Orla Gribben, Teenie Lively, Lisa McPolin and Paula Gribben (0-01) each.
U12 League: Clonduff 4-3 v Attical 0-0
The U12 team continued in winning ways with a good win over Attical.  Sophie O'Hagan was top scorer with all four goals with Hannah Wilson (0-02) and Lauren Kane (0-01) contributing to the points.  The defence was led by Eve Matthews who competently dealt with any threat from Attical.  Well done to all!!
Clonduff panel: Hannah Wilson, Eve Matthews, Lauren Kane, Sophie O'Hagan Eimear Doyle, Grace Hamill, Ellen shields, Erin lively,  Katie Morgan, Erin McAlinden, Kayleigh McPolin and Erin Stevens.
