Down minor manager Shane Mulholland begins his search for the 2015 squad in the coming weeks and he has urged players to show their true calibre during the club championships.

The Down minor football championship starts later this month and despite having a number of this year's panel available to him for the 2015 campaign, Mulholland has to unearth new talent.

"There's genuinely no substitute for seeing how players react to and take inspiration from the heat of championship battle," Mulholland told the Mourne Observer.

"As the club mentors have been working with our young players, in many cases since they were primary school kids, nobody is better positioned to give us a steer on their abilities and to earmark our county's special young talents." Tweet
