Coulter to "hang around for another year"

Down's Benny Coulter. INPHO
Benny Coulter will play intercounty football again in 2015.

The 2010 All Star attacker made his senior debut for Down in 1999 and toyed with the idea of retirement last winter. But the 32-year-old is making himself available to the Mourne County again next season:

"I might hang around for another year," the Mayobridge ace tells The Irish News. "Last year I thought about retiring because I hadn't a great season.

"This year I've felt good. I came on twice against Tyrone and made an impact and I thought I did well against Leitrim. And the same against Kildare on Sunday.

"At the start of the season I thought 100% that this would be my last year. That changed come the championship. I was really enjoying the buzz. Against Tyrone, I felt fresh and I felt good.

"If I thought I wasn't cutting it I would hold my hands up and say 'that's it, I'm done'. Mickey Linden keeps on my case that he doesn't want to hear me talking about retirement...

"But I'm a bit optimistic about next year. That's if they want me there. I definitely think I'll give it another year."
