Aughlisnafin club notesg

May 15, 2018

Our seniors kept up their good early season form to see off a physical Kilclief side that had no answer to a very fluid 'Fin attack. The 'Fin led by a goal at half time before dominating the second half to outscore their hosts 0-8 to 0-3. Impressive displays from Eoin Lundy (0-1) and Shane McCann (0-2) while Oran Flanagan (1-10) gave an exhibition in free-taking with nine of his ten frees hitting the target. Flanagan also striking for a goal and point from play with Shane Mooney on as a substitute also getting a point. The win is a fifth from six games played and next up is Ballykinlar at home on Friday week. Match ball sponsor was Gerard Lenaghan, Danmar Consulting Chartered Quantity Surveyor. Thanks for the support.

The Loch were on top for the most of the first half to take a ten point lead at the interval. The second period saw a brief rally from the Harps before the Lough regained control to see out a very important third win from six games. D

*Our U14's were away to St Paul's last Monday evening. With two players missing due to illness it was an opportunity for some more of our U12s to get game time. The first half was a closely contested affair with the Fin taking a six point lead into the interval. Marc Quinn (1-03) Ethan Murray (0-04), Conor Walsh (1-01) and Niall Dornan (1-00) all hitting the target for the Fin in the first period. The Holywood side tallied 3-02 in response. Anthony Quinn grabbed a goal with impressive Conor Walsh (0-02) and Ethan Murray (0-01) also hitting the target adding to the first half tallies. *Our U12's were at home to near neighbours St John's on Sunday. The first half was end to end with the Fin edging it in the scoring stakes. The Fin full forward Dillon Steele posted 1-03 while midfielder Marty Og Flanagan grabbed 1-01. St Johns scoring 1-02 in response. Fin keeper Sean Croskery making some good saves and his kickouts were superb throughout. Full backs Ryan Quinn, David Steen and half backs Ryan Croskery and Conor O'Hare were on top of their game. Half time Aughlisnafin 2-04 St Johns 1-02.

In the second half the Fin began to play some superb football with an exhibition in kick passing to tee up nine year old Dillon. He went on to bag a second half hat trick and add another five points. One of these points being an audacious left footed volley which flew across the face of the goals and over the crossbar. Marty Og added another three points and showing tremendous industry in midfield along side the equally hard working Joseph Steen. Another nine year old Caolan Flanagan also scored a superb goal from a free kick and Conor O'Hare completing the scoring with a magnificent long range point. St John's had some good chances too but found Sean in imperious form in the Fin nets.

Genevieve Lenaghan the only girl in the team did very well in her first competitive game for a few years and Ryan McCann also contributing to a fine win. The interchange players Odhran Murray, Jude Lenaghan and Shea Boden Hall all came on during the second half.
