6pm Irish Dancing; 6.30pm to 8.30pm Activities for aged 4 to 8 boys and girls; 7pm to 9pm Girls Club for aged 8 to 12 years; 7pm to 9pm Bridging the Divide Inclusion programme; all 3 groups will be making Christmas themed crafts this week; 7pm Yoga

10am Primary Schools Boys Indoor Football; 11am Men's Shed; 5.30pm P5 Gaelic; No Movies tonight; 7.30pm Santa arrives in his reindeer driven Scandinavian sleigh to turn on our Christmas illuminations and pose for photos, everyone is welcome to come along and meet Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. Tea, coffee, and treats will be available; 8pm Basketball NI Premier League Knights v Ulster Elks; 8pm South Down GAA Awards

Saturday 25 November

8am Kingdom Walkers; 11am P1/P2 Gaelic; 12pm P3/P4 Gaelic; 2pm Birthday Party; 4pm as part of Dicken's Day festivities in Kilkeel, we will take part in the Santa Walk through the town behind Santa and his sleigh from the Kilmorey Arms Hotel to the lower square and all young people involved will receive a medal. Santa Suits can be collected after Santa comes on Friday evening, sponsor forms in aid of Heartbeat-NI for children born with a congenital heart defect or acquired heart disease can be collected from the Club in advance, a minimum of £5 sponsorship is required; 4.30pm Birthday Party.

Thanks to everyone who assisted with or attended the deceased members Mass at Dunavil on Friday, it was another poignant evening.

 

Coaching Officer Bonnie and joint-Chair Joanna represented the club at the Down Camogie Convention on Sunday.

Senior Footballer 2017 (John Morgan Award) presented by Brendan & Rosaleen Morgan to Ronan McAlinden

Presentations were made by the adult footballers to the adult coaching team of Deaglan O'Reilly, Edmond Kali, Jim Sloan, Stephen Flanagan, Anthony Donnan, Sean McArdle and John Morrison. 

The Conor Walsh Young Player Award was presented by Peter & Ann Walsh to Liam Rodgers.

Presentations were made by Club Chairperson Tara Campbell to football guests Peter McGrath (who reminisced on winning Division One in 2007) and Peter McGrath junior (who recited a poem describing that famous victory) & John Morrison (who gave a concise psychological dissection on emotions and their significance in the future success of our club).

Chairpersons Awards for outstanding work went to Brendan Morgan who has been coaching football teams for over thirty years; juvenile camogie coach and mummy to camogie beginners Teresa White; innovative Cultural Officer Dianna Clare who initiated the Joe McDonagh Summer School at Dunavil; energetic Health Officer Barney McCartan who established the Kingdom Walkers; Tom Cunningham our Social Initiative Officer and Men's Shed chairman.

There were also presentations to James Cunningham, former chairman; Anne McArdle, Down Draw co-ordinator; Jane Eakins club PRO who produced two slideshows for the awards and organised the successful Cow-Pat fundraiser.

Presentations were made by Club Chairperson Tara Campbell to camogie guests Patricia Clarke (County Secretary) and to Aoife Ni Chaisaide (captain Robert Emmetts Camogs Slaughtneil, All Ireland champions) who gave up a few 'secrets' about the phenomenal success Slaughtneil have enjoyed - hard work, belief and pride in their club and community.

There was a slideshow and presentation by Camogie joint-Chair Paula Fearon to Patricia Clarke lifelong An Riocht 'Player & Administrator'. Paula also thanked all managers, mentors and players for their efforts during a very successful season.

In the final award of the night Joe Baldwin presented the Conal Baldwin Club Volunteer award 'GAA is My Life' to Julie and Martin McAleenan, club volunteers extraordinaire.

 

The An Riocht Annual General Meeting is on Thursday 30th November at 7.30pm

 

On Christmas Day we provide a free Christmas Dinner at 1pm at the youth club to anyone wishing to avail of the service. If it's something you may be interested in or if you know someone who may be, please contact the youth club, we may be able to provide transport; our number is 028 417 63681.

 

Young people are invited to participate in the Ana Liffey Drug Project yearly creative competition on drug-related themes. To enter, young people are asked to create either: a short video, an audio podcast, a news article or a poster. There are great prizes on offer, and each year hundreds of young people enter. The competition has lots of great prizes, with four age categories (12-14; 15-17; 18-21; 22-25), two in each broader age grouping. Each category winner will receive €250 in One4All vouchers. In addition, the overall winners of the 12-17 and 18-25 age groups will each receive vouchers to the value of €1,000. The deadline for entries is the 22nd January 2018, and full competition details are available from any Youth Support Worker at KYC.

An Riocht have been invited to Páirc an Chrócaigh on Saturday 16th December for a celebratory dinner when Aogán Ó Fearghaíl, Uachtarán Chumann Lúthchleas Gael will present a 2017 Seosamh Mac Donncha Medal for taking part in the first year of Fondúireacht Sheosaimh Mhic Dhonncha. Dianna go maith.

 

An Riocht U12 Footballers were runners-up in the South Down U12 'A' FL, & winners of Donard Murphy (Rostrevor), Kieran Dinsmore (Warrenpoint) and Brian O'Hare (An Riocht) tournaments. Conor Clarke and Deaglan Morgan presented their medals on Tuesday past at a small presentation at the club; thanks to everyone who helped in the kitchen.
