Age won't affect Donegal's chances - Curran

Donegal selector Maxi Curran has dismissed suggestions that the current core of the team is too old to win silverware.

Rory Gallagher's side are currently gearing up for next month's Ulster SFC quarter-final meeting with either Fermanagh or Antrim and even though several of their key players are now past the 30 mark, Curran is confident of "a massive push" for provincial silverware from the team this summer.

"We have listened to a lot of talk about this Donegal side being too old now and, I suppose, some of that talk has been triggered because of our poor league performance," Curran told the Belfast Telegraph.

"But these boys have shown a great appetite for championship football and I can assure that they will be up for the challenge.

"Maybe this will be seen as a last hurrah for the team as we know it but let's take one step at a time."
