Declan Bonner has been chosen as Donegal U21 football manager for 2016, with Sean Paul Barrett succeeding him as minor boss.

At their mid-monthly meeting last night, the Donegal management committee also proposed that Burt's Ardle McDermott replace Ray Durack as senior hurling manager.

Interviews for the positions had taken place in the last week with Bonner - who led Donegal to an All-Ireland minor final appearance last year - believed to have been chosen for the U21 job ahead of Milford man Barrett, Paddy J McGinley and John McGinley. The 1992 All-Ireland winning corner forward replaces Maxi Curran in the role.

The management committee has expressed its thanks to all the candidates who were interviewed for the positions.
