Donegal fans fearing another retirement are breathing a sigh of relief after new manager Rory Gallagher confirmed that Anthony Thompson will be part of this year's panel.
Less than a fortnight after he had cast doubt over the inter-county futures of Thompson and Rory Kavanagh, the latter called time on his 14-year Donegal career yesterday. However, Thompson - who has been working as an engineer in Essex since October - has no plans to follow him into retirement and is prepared to commute back and forth for training and matches.
The Naomh Conaill wing back has been a key man for Donegal since making his debut in 2006 and was one of the standout performers in their All-Ireland final victory over Mayo three years ago.
