It was a busy day on the club scene throughout the country with no fewer than 12 county finals down for decision.
In Cork, Patrick Horgan and Glen Rovers were looking to end a 25-year wait for senior hurling honours against odds-on favourites Sarsfields in Pairc Ui Chaoimh at 3.30pm.
Elsewhere, the Meath, Roscommon, Sligo and Mayo hurling titles wer also up for grabs.
In football, Cratloe aimed to complete the Clare double when they squared up to Eire Og in the football decider at Cusack Park (3.30pm) while Peter Canavan were bidding to guide Cavan Gaels to a 13th SFC title against Kingscourt Harps in Breffni Park (4pm).
Football finals also took centre stage in Limerick, Offaly, Wicklow, Sligo and Carlow.
