Donegal? Dublin? Wherefore art thou to be played?

February 03, 2009
A venue has yet to be confirmed for Donegal's money-spinning home national football league match against Dublin. The decision has been put on hold temporarily after Monday night's meeting of Donegal County Board was cancelled due to wintry weather. The bumper match has been provisionally pencilled in for Ballyshannon on Sunday afternoon, March 8 (2.30), but Donegal chiefs want to discuss whether it should be switched to Letterkenny. As Donegal's other two home games - against Mayo and Tyrone - must be played under lights in Ballybofey on Saturday nights, this is the only remaining fixture remaining available to either Ballyshannon or Letterkenny - both of which enjoy county ground status. The issue is proving divisive throughout the county and it is expected that it could go to a vote of club delegates before a solution is reached.
