Wicklow manager Eamonn Scallan is in no doubt that Donegal will provide them with a stern test in Sunday’s Christy Ring Cup opener at Letterkenny.

This is the second time that Wicklow travel to the north-west this year as the sides meet up there in the NHL 2B campaign.

On that occasion, Wicklow came away with the win as they went on to lift the league title, but Scallan is expecting a closer game on Sunday.

“Donegal were without (Declan) Coulter that day, but he’s a very good freetaker and he’s very good to get scores from play, had he played that day that match might have been different. He will be hurling on Sunday,” Scallan told the Wicklow People.

“Donegal are there and they’re there on merit. It’s in their own backyard and I get the feeling that the thing is going to be hard enough.”
