St. Eunan's Minor Footballers Handed Tough Draw

November 07, 2017

The St. Eunan's Minor Boys footballers will represent Donegal this year at the St. Paul's Ulster Minor Football Tournament staged annually each December in Belfast. Joint Captain Patrick McColgan (pictured centre) attended Saturday's draw in Belfast. They have been given the toughest possible draw, coming out of the hat in the Preliminary Round against holders, Burren (Down) who defeated Kilrea from Derry in last year's decider. Should they come through that test they will meet Spirit of Paul McGirr winners from 2015, Clann Eireann from Armagh in the quarter-final. St. Eunan's defeated Kilcar convincingly in the County Minor Championship Final back in mid-September and will be hoping the long layoff won't hold them back. St. Eunan's teams have reached the final on two previous occasions, in 1993 when they lost to An Lúb (Derry) and in 2015 when they went down to Crossmaglen Rangers on New Year's Day (2016).  Their game v Burren is set for Sunday, December 3rd.
