Pramerica Sponsorship (Photo attached)

Gaeil Fhánada Clg are delighted to link up with Donegal's leading employer Pramerica. On Monday, Director of Financial Services David Roche presented Gaeil Fhánada PRO and Pramerica employee Michael Sweeney with a sponsorship cheque which will be a great benefit to the club's progression. 2018 should be an exciting year for the club as we move to our state of the art playing surface and prepare for the official opening of the new facility. Gaeil Fhánada members and Pramerica employees Patrick Heraghty, Rudi Feenstra, Sean Meenan, Seamus Coyle and Eamonn Martin were also present.

Fewer clubs have benefitted more from Pramerica's rise than Gaeil Fhánada with such a large number of members currently employed by the company. Such is the flexibility of the company, several Fanad Gaels members were unable to attend the photo opportunity as they were availing of the working from home agreement which the company offer - another benefit which is extremely popular among the staff.

Pramerica's sharp rise over the years has been nothing short of spectacular. The company have not only stead fasted their operations here in Letterkenny but they also offer career paths, stability and opportunity to their 1500 strong staff. Gaeil Fhánada are honored to be associated with such a professional and aspiring company and hope to continue our newfound partnership over the coming years.

Under 16 Final Match Report

Our under 16 boys claimed the division 2 Shield on Sunday morning courtesy of a 2-3 to 0-5 victory over local rivals Milford. Despite what the score line may suggest it was an open game of football with neither team playing an overly defensive system. The low scoring can be attributed to good defending and also at times poor shot selection on both sides.

There was a lot of turnovers in the opening exchanges as both teams struggled to adapt to the greasy surfaces you would expect from a pitch in November. It was midway through the half before the first score when Fanad hit the back of the net from a Liam 'Bill' McGrenaghan 45. Fanad's next score was a thing of beauty as the boys once again raised the green flag, this time straight from their own kick out. Eoin McGonigle's long distance kick out was well won by Eoghan McGrenaghan before laying the ball off to John Friel. Johns direct running opened up the Milford defense and found Bill with a hand pass and Bill popped of well to Michael O'Connor, who made no mistake slotting the ball into the bottom corner. Less than 10 passed between McGonigle's goal kick and O'Connor's finish. Milford slotted over two frees leaving 4 within the teams at half time.

The second half was fairly similar to the first with defenses dominating with Shaun 'Bean' Sweeney and Liam Sweeney putting in big shifts in the full back. Fanad dominated possession throughout the half with with McGrenaghan, Johnny Gallagher and Shaun Kerr getting all a lot of ball in the midfield, aided well by the forward running of James Howe, Mark Gallagher and Pauric 'Shoney' Clinton but failed to make the impact on the score sheet. Both teams only managed the 3 points each in the second half all of Fanad's coming from frees of Bill's left foot. Milford lost star player Conor Coll to a second yellow card and to their credit despite the man disadvantage never stopped pushing to get back into the game but couldn't get passed the hard working Fanad side. Our boys held off for a four point lead to finish the season on a high. There was no stand out performer as it was a hard working team performance by the young Gaels men.

Full time score: Gaeil Fhánada: 2-03, Milford: 0-05

Fanad team: Eoin McGonigle, Mark Gallagher, Liam Sweeney, Sean 'Bean' Sweeney, Pauric 'Shoney' Clinton, Ryan McGinley, James Howe, Eoghan McGrenaghan, Johnny Gallagher, Ciaran McDevitt, Liam 'Bill' McGrenaghan (1-03), John Friel, Joshua McAteer, Michael O'Connor (1-00), Shaun Kerr. Subs: Jack Martin for McDevitt, Conor McGarvey for O'Connor, Darragh Sweeney for McAteer, Dan Kerr for Gallagher, Michael Sweeney
