McKenna Cup Final

(Oldest Posts First)

It used to be the mark of a real man how much he could take - now they fall to the ground with the minimum of contact - this type of soccer gamesmanship is utterly disgusting and has no part in our games - now a man who is just back from a year out with injury to a cruciate ligament misses out on a months football because of this shameful behaviour -

Broken ribs, I think I would fall to the ground as well.

Broken ribs? That'll mean Cavanagh will miss at least 8 weeks of football, John Boss. Bit of a blow seeing its only the McKenna Cup.

So John Boss. Did Cavanagh get his ribs broken by Conway and bravely play on only to get injured 10 minutes later or did you not have the right information when making your post?

I did'nt have the information. I can't imagine he played with broken ribs for the intevening minutes. Hopefully the Derry lad will get his red card cancelled if Colm did take a dive. To be honest, if he Colm dived - he should be suspended. I would have no problem with that.

I was only a few yards from the incident and had a perfect view and can assure you that there was minimal contact made by James Conway, who barely touched Colm Cavanagh somewhere around the hip or waist area. There had been a bit of shirt-tugging going on just before that which the linesman had noticed and he had told big James to cut it out. Colm Cavanagh was hurt a few minutes later in a collision with Barry McGoldrick, a fact which was immediately obvious.

Respect to you John Boss. Although to be fair, when I heard Conway had been sent off (didn't see game) I myself assumed he had done something to deserve it. It took someone else to tell me the red card was a bit harsh.

Mickey Linden, there are average club teams in Derry which would give Monaghan a right game of it at the minute.

James Conway has had his red card from the McKenna Cup final rescinded and is available for sunday's game.
