Carlow made it four wins from four in the Division 2A of the Allianz Hurling League this afternoon by handing Down a 3-20 to 2-18 loss at Netwatch Cullen Park.

Goals from Marty Kavanagh (penalty) and James Doyle helped the home side to lead by 2-10 to 0-10 at the halfway stage.

Despite two goals from Daithi Sands within a minute after the turnaround for Down, Jake Doyle’s superb goal with eight minutes left would be more than enough to preserve the Barrowsiders’ 100% record heading into Round 5 next weekend.

In Navan, Laois powered to their third league win on an impressive 4-26 to 1-12 scoreline against Meath.

All four of the O’Moore men’s goals came in the opening 25 minutes via Ger Quinlan, Mossey Keyes, Aaron Dunphy and Martin Phelan as they won out by 23 in the end.

In Division 2B, leaders Derry dropped their first point of the competition after being held to a 0-18 to 0-18 draw against bottom-placed Wicklow in Aughrim.

Garry Hughes grabbed in injury-time equaliser for the home side that now sees them level on points with both Roscommon and Tyrone ahead the final round of games.

Donegal chalked up their third win by seeing off Roscommon (0-24 to 1-14) at Dr Hyde Park, which moves them within two points of neighbours Derry, while London were 0-18 to 0-11 winners over Tyrone in Ruislip where Jack Goulding starred with 0-11 for the hosts.
