I see the Bunnies strike again, hosting the Minor A Final between Molaise Gaels and Farnans/Pats. Not sure what road map is used when looking at fixtures or if its more a case of who has the bigger clout when making these decisions.

Taylor should have done the decent thing for the county and resigned. His costs probably are cheap but what cost is it coming at to the county? Are we about balancing the books or winning games and maybe generating additional revenue. I certainly will not renew my club sligo as a result of this decision by a county board that lacks ability, vision and determination to pick a manager who fits the same bill. And from talking to others I'm not alone. Maybe when they see a couple of hundred at the Division 4 games and a fall in Club Sligo they'll realise their mistake. We got rid of outside managers for far better performances compared to this year which must be the worst in the history of Sligo GAA

Sligo Club Fixtures 2019 - 1 Like(s)
Fixtures were ratified by County Board this week so two groups of 5 and we'll have three 8's in leagues withing two years. Personally I think the three 8's in leagues is a good move and we should be doing the same in Championship. For a county our size it doesn't make sense having teams in both Senior and Intermediate championships who are only fighting for survival year after year. I do agree though that two fives with only one in relegation is a bit stale. Only battle will be at bottom of the table after round 3. Why not give an incentive to clubs to push for first by giving them a route to semi-final as has been suggested. But in any event it's immaterial now as they've been adopted.

Replying To Sligonian:  "Taylor Resign please, your not the source of our issues but you are a symptom of the choices of an incompetent county board. Given the results which show to me a lack of learning or progress, conceding 3-17 today to Offaly, not a div2 side, a side that's struggled to stay in div 3 is unacceptable. The worst year in a long time if ever for our Seniors. We are in danger of throwing away all the good work at underage if Taylor stays."
Judging by his interview with Ocean FM he's in no rush out the door. This man I'm afraid is better cut out for politics than football with him trying to flog the same story again as he was all year. Saying they're doing all the right things, working hard, young team etc. If he were getting the most out of them Sligo wouldn't have the results they had all year. Time to see how strong the new chairman is because we got rid out outside managers for far better outcomes.

Replying To Timmy86:  "Can anyone tell me who came up with this joke of a system of 5 n a group and 4 go threw ,no player wants it ,lose 3 games u can still go threw ,a pure joke ,if it was at least top go to semi ,a d 2 a d 3rd fight for other semi ,but this system is stupid"
Look to a big Bunninadden man for the answer on that one. All in an attempt to keep gates up but having gone to games the past three weekends and yesterday I'm afraid they'll fall well short of their target

Big weekend of action for the county coming up. Minor team doing very well with good management team that seems to be able to keep the lads motivated. Hurlers put in a great year and some achievement to be back in Croke Park 12 months later. So I suppose it's not all bad news. As for Sunday well what can anyone say. Should it be a loss as the bookies expect I hope Taylor has the decency to call it a day on his disasterous few months as manager. Even a win is only prolonging the inevitable question that either he or the County Board have to ask.

Replying To ProudSligoMan:  "Easkey got to the Junior All Ireland last year, winning Connaught along the way. Last Sligo team to reach the Connaught final was Eastern Harps who lost to Corofin in 2008. Marys are the only Sligo team to have won it, the last time being in 1983. I would think Marys would have the biggest population in their catchment of all the clubs in Connaught. Somebody might correct me there"
Salthill/Knocknacarra would be the biggest I'd imagine. Bigger than several of our clubs put together. Castlebar Mitchells would have plenty to pick from too. Did Shamrock Gaels not reach the Connacht final last year also in Intermediate?
