Replying To weatherfieldgael:  "How will Leitrim or any of the teams in this particular partition cup develop if they are constantly playing teams at the same level as them?"
Leitrim beat Antrim who are a division above them. If they beat Sligo then they will probably again be playing a team in a higher division and the same should they reach the final. This competition is for players. They would like to play in Croke Park. They would like the game on T.V. They would like the recognition of an All Star Award plus the banquet. It's them that put in the hard yards all year. Supporters just roll up and can have drinks before, during and after games and then dissect the performance, take out their phone go on this forum and slate everything and everyone. There are a lot of great genuine supporters that engage in good banter but for a small county you have more than your share of begrudgers, who constantly find angles to find fault with basically everything

It's a joke. End of story. Fines are also a joke. There was an opportunity to come down hard on these teams but the GAA fluffed their lines probably because they didn't want the counties to appeal as they would probably win the appeal. Roll on next year and the next brawl.

Referee's make mistakes. It happens in all sports. When it happens in the last few minutes the mistake is highlighted on a greater scale. There have been loads of mistakes that have cost teams down through the years and I am not talking about GAA solely in this regard. Thierre Henry is one. I was at an Ireland v Scotland rugby match a few years ago when a bad call over the use of a lineball by the referee caused a try for Scotland and these are professional games. Has soccer improved with the use of var? Every team that loses by a point or 2 is going to feel aggrieved. They rarely look at the mistakes they made themselves eg wides, fouls committed, poor passing, silly fouls. They prefer to hone in on mistakes by officials and use the same line." We have been training x amount of time and we deserve better" There is no silver bullet. Val Daly diplomatically turning the knife by saying the referee will have to live with the mistake for the rest of his life is not very smart. He could just as easily have said Our team will have to live with the mistakes we made during the game. How many cards were dished out. I rest my case

A lot of people are all worked up about the attendance for these games. Ye have a short memory. It's not long ago that there was no one allowed at any match and the sky didn't fall down. Excellent days entertainment. Well done to the organisers

Very sad week for the Murphy family in Curry. Hundreds and thousands of tributes are testament to the goodness of people. This is a tragic case that appears to be dealt by the Curry Club with compassion. This funeral needs to be respectful and not glorified. There are probably other people all over the country in a dark place and they must see that there are brighter days ahead, they just need to figure out how to get there.

What was wrong with the ref. Enlightened me please. He let the game flow which is what we want. Both sides hit some terrible wides. Was that his fault. Posters like you should not be allowed publish posts

Replying To Donegal_abroad:  "So what if he hasn't played for his club at senior, he evidently will for years to come all going well and it's a few days we are talking about here that even made this an issue. If he is another few days older this lad, nobody bats an eyelid. You would swear he played a 15 year old.. "Madness".. a perfect example of your hyperbole. The only madness in this affair is the crocodile tears of concern from you and others around this 'issue.' Just proves how many outside the county care less about Roarty and more about Jim getting it on the chin."
The reason this issue is dragging on is because people like you don't know the rules and come on here talking rubbish. He is NOT ALLOWED play senior football for Donegal until next Jan. End of story

I feel sorry for Leitrim as does every county with a small playing population. A few years ago Sligo were hit similarly due to covid and had to concede a championship game. I don't think our Co Board fought strong enough to get an alternative date. All we know is that a few weeks later Tyrone announced they weren't in a position to fulfill a game against Kerry and the game was immediately moved. I think to forfeit the game is correct. A lot of people with no knowledge of the game are making stupid comments particularly on other sites, although one lad here came up with the ridiculous idea of some of the U.20 playing a half each. Neither can you call up club players who are not near the fitness level and expect them to slot in and bear the burnt of a heavy beating. I read here where one poster said you will get over a bad beating but never get over a forfeit. Unfortunately a lot of you refuse to move on after the loss to New York. This is a low point for Leitrim and maybe it's needed so that everyone who has an interest in Leitrim football can put their heads and resources together and plan for the future. For all the supporters the best thing you can do is flock to Cloone on Wednesday evening and cheer on your U.20 team. Don't burden them with expectations. I read a lot of you saying that you are expecting big things from this team. Encouragement is what's needed. Look for a good performance but be realistic. Manor had a great win recently, but it was in the C competition. It's a good starting point for your minors. The Leitrim forum is one of the busiest on this site. No one can doubt your passion for the game but sometimes you build sand castles in the air and when they come crumbling down it can be a sorry mess. There were posters here a month ago picking the U.20 team. A month ago the Leitrim manager didn't even know his best 15. Last year you beat Mayo and drew with Sligo ( you should have beaten us). If you get 2 wins out of 4 it will be a good solid campaign. I wish you well.

All Ireland Final 2023 - Dublin V Kerry - 4 Like(s)

Replying To waynoI:  "Kerry will be massive favourites. Rightly so. Look I suppose all we can do as underdogs is go and give it a good rattle against the traditionalists. We're very fortunate that we have an all ireland final to look forward to, after all we were a division 2 team and we will be coming up against the defending 1 in a row champs with the greatest footballer of all time in their ranks Main thing is we stay competitive for as long as we can. Proud of our boys who are in bonus territory."
What a rubbish post. How many All Ireland medals will you be parading behind the Artane boys band ?? On a side note it's the old fashioned goalies that stay where they were picked to play that's in the Final. Those wandering keepers don't really do it for me.

Replying To coldfeet:  "Yes it was a great hit at the end, the fourth official could of been booked himself for the theatrical dive. The problem isn't the players and management. The standard of referring in leitrim is poor imo, most of our current referees have not played at a high level and have little to no understanding of the rules or the definition of a tackle, it's handy money and leitrim Gaa are willing to sign up anyone who can blow a whistle, again standards. I hope O Hara gets the leitrim job, plenty of passion and knows leitrim football."
You are probably correct. It's not the players and management. It's donkey's like you with zero respect for rules and officials. I know of very few referee's anywhere in the country that played at the highest level, not just in Leitrim.

Replying To leitrimforsam:  "Hello to my dear friends from the County of the highly renowned poet WB Yeats. Could I ask you to take a moment of mature reflection on your thinking of who will qualify for the Connacht semifinal from the quarter finals involving ourselves,Sligo,New York and London. Will it be 1 The two away teams 2. The two home teams. 3. If one of the home team wins. Which one would you think is the most likely to forward to the semi final. I would appreciate if on the conclusion of your mature reflection you would give an honest answer on above. Been presumptive I thank you for reading this post. Anyway that enough balderdash from me. Could you answer the questions please. Thanks"
My mature reflection is that over the years there have been loads of daft nonsensical posts on this forum and I might have contributed some of those, but none of them were as daft as the rubbish that you have posted over the last few days. So you can go away and reflect on that because I don't believe you warrant an answer. Have a good day

Replying To endgame:  "Mayo are very ordinary at the moment. Unfortunately Roscommon have been really poor all year and couldn't capitalise on Mayo's ordinariness. Galway celebrated the provincial title because it's all they'll get. Connacht is miles off having an All Ireland winning team. 23 years and counting. Today was a close and exciting match but the quality was not very good."
I disagree with you. It was an ex excellent game of football. Exactly what was wanted . Lovely weather, Brilliant scores, Controversy , great saves, loads of mistakes, lead exchanging hands., Hopefully we will see more games like this in the championship.. No need for you to be bitter and say "That's all they will win" The next trophy on offer is the Sam Maguire and both teams are well down the pecking order. Well done to the Roscommon U20 team. In not going to say "that's all you will win" Instead I will say best of luck and I hope you win it outright.
