Meath v Kildare Semi-final

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Looking like perfect conditions for a championship match this evening between 2 good teams. Can see this been a cracker with very little between the teams at the end. If we bring same attitude and commitment into this game as we showed towards end of league and against louth I think we'll scrape by Kildare by 2 points. Really looking forward to it. Come on the Royals.

Good job the game is at 7pm, because I wouldn't fancy playing in the heat right now. I can feel the back of my neck tingling after a few minutes in the sun.

Looking forward to avenging the defeat in the opening round of the league and the gloating that followed from some quarters.
Also for what Kildare did with the Galway game.
Qualifiers for Kildare, Meath to march on.

Utterly shambolic this display. Should be another 5 points down only for erratic Kildare shooting. Kildare so so much stronger.

Think a lot of our Meath focussed boisterous talk on here has been driven by traditional county pedigree than any real substantial evidence. We are as far off the pace now as we have been anytime over the last 10 years.

Cian O'Sullivan is an oasis of decision making in attack. Plowing forward at pace but you always get the feeling he's on a solo run. Absolutely taken to the cleaners in midfield. The amount of wides Kildare have kicked they should be near 14-15 pts clear.

Half time Kildare are by far the better organized and better conditioned. Completely bossing the game. What can be changed for the second half? I'm hoping we get a few early scores and a bit of belief

Where can we get about 7 players in a hurry?

Lads as I always say Graham Reilly wil do it against the louths and laois teams ! Today he was beyond terrible ! Management wise complete shambles ! Clueless ! This team is going now where! Remember it's only Kildare not Dublin!

Well done to Kildare. By far the better team.

Meath simply didn't show up today.

Very very disappointing.

Just don't have enough players at the required level at this time.Sideline decisions good in the circumstances. No leaders on the field to day.Even Andy can't work miracles

Well that was embarrassing. Where's the evidence of this much vaunted strength and conditioning coach? Absolutely no organization nothing from the sidelines and no idea how to change it, we have Banty mark II on the line, talks a big game but doesn't deliver.

Very disappointing. Can't blame the manager were just not good enough short summer again. Thought mcmahon was hiding didn't see him touch the ball at all same for Biggie.

Well that was nothing short of disgraceful. No pride or passion and the game plan was terrible. Makes you wonder what they have been doing in training since last October. Where was Biggie today when we needed him most, he was non existant. It hurts me to say but Kildare were on a different wavelength to us today.

thekillercrow.....Agreed even players we thought might be"coming good" were found out when the Chips were down. Championship football highlights the reality. Still think Andy is the man for the job when we get enough players at the standard required .Nevertheless dissapointed
to see how Kildare were able to push us around so easily

Well no excuses no complaints better team won we are going no where will have blind followers on saying this and that but manager went out with team and tactics ie man on man ? For 10 years we have had no midfield still no mid field no center forward o sullivan head down running straight into trouble went missing against louth tobin cleaned out at corner back this 3 years wallace got 35 min to give ball away one year on no better beaten by down hammered by kildare twice kicking mad shots wide open in defence dubs will be laughing heads of kildare are good in full forward and midfield but dubs will beat them pulling up god knows what they would do to meath back to the drawing board but the fact is the players are not there and thats a fact

You have to remember Andy is a novice at inter county level. He has to be given time to develop in the job. He also has to find quite a few players. He won't be happy either.I will be critical if he uses mickey mouse excuses.

Kick out strategy or lack of afforded too much time on the ball for Kildare. Playing one up front (excuse the foreign game analogy) at best meant we would be living off scraps for the entire 70 mins. Carrying the ball into the tackle was suicidal today. Hard to see us going much further now good chance we could draw Mayo or Donegal. I'm assuming Tyrone will account for Donegal.
