The reason is unfortunately due to injuries ect these are probably best we have or only ones we have.

wat about downey in half back line he was played out of position against derry and taken off very early I don't think he has got same amount of game time as others have he was on team of the week in one of the obc games I think he deserves another chane or 2 of 60 or 70 mins not just for 20 or 30 thecraw1 (Meath) - Posts: 106 - 04/03/2017 19:06:01 1963570 Link 0 |
Well if he going to play McMahon and leinhan as 2 man FF line think that's weak. Mc Mahons he is not great at winning the ball because of his size. He doesn't make the most of his scoring chances either. And if a we that's going make even worst. And on top of that ball delivered into the boys is going to have alot better than was served up the past few games. And its going be wet the boys wont get real chance to us there pace. Maybe I wrong but I think Reilly might be tried playing closer to the goal.

Given the problems around midfield and half backs it's surprising Douglas seems to have been completely discarded. Had a very poor first half vs Kildare as did most of the team but he seems to be out of Andys plans now.

Think lenehan will try to offload to McMahon. But can't see very many long balls in to be honest, football is changing, just watched Dublin and Mayo could count on hand how many balls hoofed in. Played to wings or running game. I expect Meath will do same tomorrow, that's a nippy half forward line and through Graham into the mix, plenty of chances for points and freeas. Now could be totally wrong but that's what I'd do.

I suspect lenihan will come out towards the 40 with Graham moving closer to goal. bert09 (Meath) - Posts: 1792 - 04/03/2017 20:51:43 1963602 Link 1 |
Like Mickey Burke he will probably return to the hurlers. And James Toher should play every second game when there is a clash between the two codes, so he should be available to the hurlers for the next two clashes as he has played football v Derry and most likely v Galway tomorrow.

Yeah its changed all right but I counted at least 5 balls in the Down game that was hoofed in to the square. And we got nothing from it.

Ground is sodden. Won't be surprised if it's called off

Yeah would like to see kennley get a run think we could do with him in half forward line we are very fast in that area but seems very small to my team when fit por McGill. Keoghan. Tobin. Ford menton Harnan. Toher Flanagan . Reilly o sullivan kennlley joey wallace Newman lenihan .joey play well against derry good point I think we have a good keeper not perfect but he is good under high ball long kick out and good shot stopper needs to cut out the silly mistakes keoghan is our best defender think that half back line is our best we need alot more from mid field and halfforwards on kickouts good enough fullforward line we are missing an Ollie Murphy type who can win his own ball and score 3 4 points from play give Andy time may have to find a system to fit players we have rather than get the other way round there is no getting away from fact that mid field is our weakest line but time is needed

Doubt I'll be called off. Hasn't rained that heavy here thismorning and very very rare games get called of in navan. On of the best surfaces in the country to take rain. Unlike that hole down in bogcommon.

Ye I think fans in general can be quite impatient by nature (myself very much included in that), it's only natural that we want to see our own team doing well but these things take time, and even time is no guarantee of anything. I love optimism royaldunne, while mathematically promotion is still on, I would give us little chance, given our poor start. At this point I'd be happy to see us remain in division 2, but I'll also contradict myself by saying that I hope Meath management and players are pushing for promotion and wouldn't be happy with finishing mid table. Today is definatly a crossroads, a win and we are on promotion road and a loss send us in direction we dont want to go
