Just on you point about McGills height - how tall do you have to be to be a full back? McGill is 6'1'' - I would have thought there was more to it than that!!

O'Sullivan came off after 15/20 minutes having received two bangs to the face. Hard to know if he will last the full 70 on that showing.

Replying to Auldfella, As far as I know, none of the U21s have been called up.

Did you see the down goal on Saturday night? Did you watch the wicklow and cavan games last year when they both put a big man in full forward and went route one.both times mcgill was destroyed. Now im a fan of mcgill thats why i said id try him at 6 or even corners back but for me you need a bigger man at fullback.just my opinion

It wasn't McGill marking the Down player for the goal, McGill was marking the lad on the opposite side of the box and can be seen running back towards the line as the ball is knocked across the goal!!

Don't like name shaming but it was cian O'Brien's fault for the goal not McGill, McGill actually had a very good game

I see guys naming different teams and different players naming players way out of the natural positions and starting players that never played before. Every team seem completely different that's all fine. But I think its says a lot about the team this year that nobody (including Management) seems to know who are best players and where they should play. We going into our fourth league. We still seem to be as far away from a settled team as we where in first week in January.

Fair point, think how the team apply themselves is more important overall. We showed some toughness against Derry and workrate was very good. That is our foundation,Andy will have to try and get them to play this way more often. We tend to be too soft mentally and physically in the tackle, but we proved against Derry that we can do that.I am sure he is trying to get through to the players this way,but it will take more time than a few months after the last 6 years or so of not showing that..

I didn't say mcgills man scored the goal but the fact remains a simple high ball dropped into our goalmouth should be gobbled up by a good big full back

I'm finding it funny hearing so many Meath people so downbeat about this game and thinking we will probably be relegated. When you look at the teams in division 2 should pick up points in remaining games. Galway for many years are in a similar position to Meath, there is nothing particularly to fear from them. I think Meath will be very to focused for this game due to criticism during the week and for this reason I expect Meath to win this home game.

I posted somewhere that we will beat Galway, fermanagh and clare. Prob not enough to get promoted. it seems positive posts on this board get blocked LOL

What a ridiculous comment!!! With that logic you would be dropping the big full forward for not getting on the end of a long high ball in despite the fact he was out on the 21 when it was kicked in!! Sure while we're at it we can drop Lenihan for not getting onto that one ball that was kicked into the corner backs arms because 'a good nippy corner forward would gobble that ball up' and get rid of Keoghan as well for a wing forward tipping the ball over the bar from the 21 because a strong corner back wouldn't have let him get in so close!!

It's funny, if McGill had left his man to challenge for that high ball and the ball happened to drop to his man, he'd be pilloried for leaving his man free.

at the end of the day o'brien was weak and should be doing better there.
