Replying To Count:  "Simonstown would not field due to their two County players not being available. Presume Na Fianna get the points. Ratoath and Dunboyne both won without their bigger county contingent."
That is definitely not the reason.

Why should clubs be forced to field without county players when championship for meath is still a month away? Not fair on clubs. simonstown were dead right. Id expect more clubs to do the same

Though I have supported Meath for over 50 years, the county is no more important than the club.

Is a County challenge match more important than a club league?

Of course it is not.

If Simonstown reason for not playing is genuine, I for one salute them.

Simonstown emailed the county board last week expressing their disappointment at having to play without their county players.
On Saturday Simonstown wrote to the county board and copied all clubs saying they would not be fielding against Na Fianna as they did not know the availability of their county players for the weekend.

Fair play to them. I know the county team and preparation is extremely important, however the clubs are more important, as without them there would be no county football/teams. We now have a situation where nobody knows whether the club championship matches will be played on the scheduled dates.

Serious win for Ratoath tonight 7-17 to 0-8 against Walterstown, one sided isn't an adequate description.

big improvement from teams like Dunshaughlin and Rathkenny in recent weeks, I know its only league but Dunshaughlin got better of Dunboyne, senchalstown and ashbourne recently and i see rathkenny beat kells and na fianna in last 2 league games. anyone from either club have any reasons for improvement?

It's league and it seems that clubs ain't that bothered about it anymore. All about championship now. This is a pity but is caused by players not being available and overall lack of real interest from clubs

Wolfe Tones seem to be making great strides. Very good young players coming through and not like a lot of teams they have the firepower to go far in the champo

The fiasco between the County board and the county team regarding release of players for league games coupled with the decision of Simonstown not to field last weekend has killed any lingering interest in the league which is bad for the development of football in Meath. Would you expect any guy in the middle of third level exams to go out and play a league match ? Would you expect a guy to change work rosters to play a league match ? It is time that a system is adopted in Meath like a lot of the Ulster counties have where there are specific rounds where county players are allowed to play and this is decided at the start of the competition and makes up about 70% of the matches. In Meath county players play about 3 out of 13 max.

Mad stuff - they had McGill, C & B O'Brien, E Wallace and McMahon back from county duty - they had Duffy back in goal. (Still missing Power, J Wallace and the two hurlers Kelly and McGowan (both serious footballers) Makes such a difference - but is that fair on the other teams - none of those lads were available against Nobber!

Not fair at all but not Ratoath fault. The league needs to be competitive and taken seriously but it has decended into little more than shadow boxing. If and it is an if the championship goes to schedule then every team will still be in with a chance of qualifying come July 21st when third round is due, 10 weeks away. As we seen last year it's all about having form at the right time
