The problem with biggy being a half back is a half back actually has to track back and defend. What does Royaldunne make of Biggy playing the week before the club semi final? I think it's ridiculous and biggy himself should say hes not playing so close to a big match for his club. It's only the O'Byrne Cup.

GR is too much of an attacking threat (and probably Meath's best point scorer) to have in the half-back line. I'd say he wouldn't like to sit out a game vs. Louth, even in the OBC. Alan Forde is a very good wing back who can tackle well and also get forward and link up well with a wing forward/HF line, and with scoring ability. Paddy Kennelly played really well against Wicklow as a half forward and dropped deep to the half back line throughout the game. He tried to do too much vs. Laois ... he'd take on and beat his marker well, just not 2-3 players in close proximity (blanket defence) on his own. It will be interesting to see how he gets on at FF. Worth trying out for sure, hopefully he will get good service. GlasagusOr (Meath) - Posts: 1348 - 20/01/2017 19:07:35 1947435 Link 0 |
Nothing about wanting to impress. He is capt and as such sees it as his duty to be on the team should manager ask. Dedication. Also I am sure this was discussed with cilles and.everyone is in agreement. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 20/01/2017 20:45:52 1947458 Link 0 |
Charles Mc Carthy ? i think when Charles Mc Carthy played for meath he wasn't really that much of a threat Bob IMO :)

Well I personally wouldn't be for it , incase of injury, however as I said I think the fact he is captain he sees it as his duty, add to that I guarantee you club Andy and graham discussed this and everyone agreed he could play. I'm sure at ht he will be substituted.

He's playing because he is of the opinion that the best way for him to prepare for the semi-final is to play games. Also he believes he is as likely to pick up an injury training with Cilles as he is playing a game for Meath. Straight from the horses mouth. jackhackett (Meath) - Posts: 773 - 20/01/2017 21:14:03 1947465 Link 1 |

Yeah that is pretty much it, plus cilles dont have a problem with it. Now ok my nerves will be shot until he is subbed.

I expect Harnan after been away would be nowhere fit enough and anyways 51 lads worked like hell last few months so he should start bottom of the pile

Good point Ziggy, was it last year the that he had that idiotic wing back in his face the whole time?

Think that was a league game two seasons ago.

At present none of our HB's are anywhere close to be compared with Jack Mc Caffery. I would also like to see Keoghan at half back as he is able to defend and attack, and you need players in that line which have both these attributes. Reilly is very good at attacking and scoring (tackling/defending would not be his greatest attribute), so I would keep him where he causes the opposition most problems- my opinion only

Here you are, Donegal certainly had the stronger team out..... http://www.donegaldemocrat.ie/news/home/231829/donegal-have-good-win-over-meath-in-competitive-challenge.html#.WIOy3IVqmw1.facebook Richieq (Meath) - Posts: 3734 - 21/01/2017 21:00:12 1947622 Link 5 |
Donegal beat Meath 2-16 to 2-5. It was a really strong Donegal team in fairness. 1st choice keeper, Neil McGee, Ryan McHugh, Murphy and we didn't have many first choice players. The result doesn't look good though. Lot of work needed LeitrimRoyal99 (Meath) - Posts: 1458 - 21/01/2017 21:12:30 1947626 Link 6 |
