I'm hearing 250K, if it's a lie I tell it was a lie I was told

I think Tayto Park was €110'000 a year before last year. I doubt our stock has risen much since, so it's probably in or around that again. CastleBravo (Meath) - Posts: 1647 - 12/12/2016 21:55:27 1939781 Link 5 |
Conor Tormey described it tonight as a significant increase in recent deals so I imagine it might be a bit higher than the 110K Tayto Park used to give, no disrespect to them but what they gave this year would hardly put diesel in the bus.

Its supposed to be a three year deal. Are they paying E250,000 per year, or does that cover the three years?

It could be more, but I'd be surprised if it suddenly jumped from €55'000 to €250'000 in one year, with no major change in what's on offer. A business won't pay 4 times over the odds for something, or they won't be in business for long. CastleBravo (Meath) - Posts: 1647 - 12/12/2016 23:38:44 1939796 Link 5 |
6 Figure sum signed up for the next 3 years. Royal_Gunner (Meath) - Posts: 534 - 13/12/2016 10:21:46 1939826 Link 0 |
Yeah the Tayto deal was a lot less so I imagine if its 6 figure, it must be 100k (unless of course the new sponsors are genuinely really on board as supporters and see Meath reaching the top table again so want to jump on board now). I like it. bert09 (Meath) - Posts: 1792 - 13/12/2016 16:33:59 1939939 Link 1 |
If that figure is accurate I would imagine it's over the three years certainly......

Still not a great deal if that is the case.

That's not true. It's a six figure sum per annum which will cover the costs associated with the Meath senior team for the next 3 years. Now if anyone thinks the costs of the Meath Seniors will be anything under €99,000 next year then they live on cloud cuckoo land. Team expenses (across all the teams) in Meath in 2016 were €499,855 and in 2015 were €416,277. Now I'm not for one second suggesting Devenish are giving €500,000 but they're definitely giving a very substansial amount greater than €83 per annum. In 2015 the cumulative sponsorship received for county teams (football and hurling) was €116,000 with €45,000 given from somewhere in contributions. In 2016 the sponsorship was €69,000 and the contributions amounted to €45,000 again. jackhackett (Meath) - Posts: 773 - 13/12/2016 22:17:17 1939998 Link 0 |
Have you a better offer ?

Well at the moment all anyone has is speculation, it doesn't make economic sense for a company to give 250pa 750k over 3 years. All I was told was per year it was mid 80k . I hope your right.

Well I think Tayto Park were given 130,000 before they knocked it down to a pathetic 50,000. 83,000 is an improvement of course, but not huge if we are honest about it.Also it is not a 6 figure sum a year.

We're not getting great money but then again we can't really expect to unless we either improve our standard of football or find a millionaire who loves Meath football and sponsors us for charity rather than profit. We're not a big deal anymore, so if we want to attract big investment we have to improve our standard on the pitch, sponsors want national attention, we haven't played in an AI QF since 2010, that's simply no good. That's what the call nail on the head. At the moment we are a risk for any company, and cannot expect sponsorship of the top 8 counties, its a gamble, now if Andy manages to get us into division one and last 8 of championship for next 3 years, this will have been a steal for new sponsor, and in 3 years we can look for 250k per year at least. But to use the auld adage , we are where we are. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 14/12/2016 15:00:36 1940105 Link 0 |
