Replying To RR:  "Well that went completely against all expectations. Domination from 1-60!

Had only seen Simonstown a couple of times but very impressed by their full forward line. Them Ashbourne lads marked out Joe Sheridan and Paddy O'Rourke in the knockout stages.

County lads let Don/Ash down I felt."
Yeah county players were very poor for don/ash simonstown deserved winners congratulations on first ever title at senior level,

Didn't see that coming, expected a much tighter game. Couldnt make it down but according to the match report from the auld chap it was dominated by simonstown from start to finish, were they that good or were Don/Ash that bad?

Simonstown were very impressive and played like a real team. Sadly Ash did not perform at all on the day and that would be the disappointing thing.

Enjoyed watching Simonstown. Played a nice brand of ball and their work rate was super. Ashbourne were disappointing but you have to stand up and be counted for on days like this. They were very poor. Simple as.

Conlon will undoubtedly be involved in the Meath setup and I'd be looking at Burlingham in goal and maybe Gallagher the corner back. Would've been a nice bonus to have Nash too but that's life. Credit to O'Rourke and co, fully deserved win.

Would agree with conlon. But Burlingham id say is nailed on certainty. Also have a feeling that Andrew tormey has played his last game for Meath, Bryan Menton was very disappointing today. Only one team in it today and honestly the score could have been more.

Simonstown were far and away the better team. Caught the ball from the throw in, ran down the field, scored a point and never looked back. Ashbourne never showed up for the first half at all. Some of the points scored by the Simonstown lads were fantastic. Ashbourne were too content to hand pass the ball around instead of driving forward. Be really interesting to see how Simonstown get on in Leinster.

It didn't have any effect on the result, but I thought the ref didn't allow any hard tackling at all. You would see more physical contact in a basketball match (a non-contact sport!!!!). So called traditional Meath football is dead I'm afraid.

Lets be honest about it ..Simonstown played good football all year, deserving winners plus they did there homework on the Don/Ash county Lads so they couldn't impose their game or ever play the sort of style they wanted !

just saying

i was at the match myself, good solid display from simonstown...unfortunately a.tormey turned up from ashbourne but no one else. not sure of names but simonstown no.4, 7, 8 and 9 were very impressive for me. decent keeper too burlingham who had 2 top top saves and a good free kick taker in no.13....great shame young nash is leaving for oz...huge loss to gaa

Agree with what you say about the ref.Was very disappointed with that.He could have let a lot of things go.

McEntee apparently took a liking to Curran and the McGoverns when in charge of Ashbourne.

Could they make the Meath panel though? Agree on Tormey, his goose is cooked.

The McGoverns were about 10 when McEntee was in charge of Ash. :P

Simonstown worthy winners. Don/ Ash still miles away from winning Keegan, very overrated team.
Just noticed on programme pen pics that a few of them have a B lge Div1 win in 2010. But they didnt win it that year! They were well beaten in the final. Is this a miss print anyone know the correct year?

How do you think Simonstown will do in Leinster? They have Rhode in 2 weeks. Hopefully we'll see a Meath team make a good run in the province.

Sadly they'll probably be without Nash but there is nothing that can be done about that now.

Hope they do the county proud.

That's slightly harsh. Yes Donaghmore/Ashbourne never turned up today, but to say that they are 2 flakey teams, is abit unfair.

Simonstown have been playing knock out football since round 3 versus O'Mahony's, and that's something that can not be beaten. It's championship as it should be! Donaghmore/Ashbourne on the other hand, seem to have being running out of steam in the past couple of months. Yes, they scored well against Dunshaughlin and Senchlestown, but neither are the team they were in previous years. And I know they beat Simonstown in the Feis Cup final, but if anyone who was at it and are honest, Simonstown failed to close the match out in normal time; ultimately paying the price. Also, if you read Bryan Menton's notes in the match programme, he subconsciously eludes to the fact the their league form at the start of the year, would not be good enough today, as their form is (was now) erratic. He states that their good start to the league was not a true picture, as teams don't have their full teams available, due to various reasons such as injuries, absentees etc. meaning that he (subconsciously) didn't belief that they could win.

Simonstown played some excellent football today, and dominated the middle sector. Their work rate today was very good. Shane O'Rourke and Conor Nash completed outplayed Conor Carey and firstly David Morgan (who wasn't really in the match long enough to count) and then James Colgan. Brian Conlon and Niall Kane were terrific in getting secondary possession, and Seamus Kenny was his usual workmanlike self. Even if Andrew Tormey's penalty was converted, I thought Simonstown still would have won comfortably. Donaghmore/Ashbourne just seemed too leggy and stuck to the ground. They never got going.

Well done Simonstown Gaels.

Rhode gave the Wexford champs an absolute battering so will be high on confidence.

If Simonstown get up in their faces from the first whistle they've a real chance
