Andy McEntee - a fresh start

I like what I heard, he's down to earth, ambitious, determined and loves the county (all without coming across like Davy Fitz). Looking forward to seeing them in the O'Byrne Cup.

I see Cormac Sullivan is now a a selector along with being goalkeeping coach. Good call (again) by Andy in my opinion.

Elsewhere, I was told that Gerry McEntee was brought down a few times by Brian Cody to give motivational speeches to the Kilkenny hurlers. Gerry is a great addition to the setup and lets hope the favour is reciprocated during the championship next year.

andy will be good but supporters need to be patient as well ive watched him with the minor team when he was over it he is clear and precise and will take each game at its merits. he will have a gameplan for each game and sometimes it will not be pretty to watch. division 1 has to be the main aim i wouldn't worry about the championship as such anything can happen wait and see what way the draw goes this week

That's Gerry "burn the Hurleys" McEntee we're talking about...?
What possible motivation could a man with such a low regard for the small ball game in his own county bring to the kings of Hurling...?

Ah come on Wedgie, that was probably said in jest. Either way, he isn't in charge of the County Board or involved in the hurling team. He is involved with the football team and I am very hopeful that our senior team will be properly prepared and motivated next year.

I am a supporter of both codes and want people in charge of teams committed to their particular code. I am sure that the hurling selectors weren't thinking too much about football when contesting the Christy Ring final and replay and fair play to them on the outcome.

Regarding what he could bring, obviously Brian Cody saw that he has motivational qualities which often happens. In fact Darren Clarke brought Paul O'Connell in to speak to the Ryder Cup team (doesn't always work out I suppose).

I heard Kildare footballers was picking Gerrys brains on how to beat the Dubs in mid 90s too.

Well he was talking to Brian Cody. Horses for courses and all that, Meath is a traditional Football county. My own clubs footballers have been hamstrung all year due to fixtures being shelved because of hurling. So much so that our Manager has quit after a successful 4/5 years but is so frustrated that he can't continue

In fairness, over the last few months we've been told that everything Andy has touched turns to gold.

Because andy mc entee was staying in charge of ballyboden until they were knocked out of the championship. Now that has happened, he is free to concentrate 100% on the meath job.

Who has told you that castlebravo? You would want to be a bit more careful who you listen to!

Its because the thread is about Andy McEntee and he's the manager that lead Ballyboden this year and they just lost in the Championship to Kilmacud Crokes

What are you talking about? Boden were beat by a side which were rated higher than them.
Now Andy is free to concentrate solely on Meath. I dont mean to sound nasty. But I for one am delighted, I was terrified that they might win dubs championship again (against the odds) under Andy , and that then is a guaranteed Leinster win as no other club in provincial would come near them, so we could have had been waiting until 17 march for him. For me its win win.

I'm not sure who is making the most sense when you say' rated higher'. How higher can you get than winning the AI club. Boden were expected to beat Crokes who were missing their best player.-not sure where you get your ratings from

Not according to paddy power. Boden were behind them in the betting.

Maybe you are paying too much attention to Paddy. He also had Dunboyne as favourites for the senior championship.
