Replying To Royalace:  "Best of luck to Andy Mcentee and credit must go to the county board in this case getting this done in a swift manner, could have been let drag on."
I second that, and I would be critical of the county board at times.
Best wishes to Andy et al. But it will not be easy.
All I ask for initially, is to play with heart and desire. Regain pride in the jersey. With the best players making themselves available.
And then who knows!

All the best to Andy and the rest of his team. Interesting times ahead for us supporters I feel. There should be no shortage of passion and belief in the players now. God help any player who enters the dressing room after a game without giving it 100% as this is a management team who will give and expect 100% at all times and its what Meath Football badly needs.

If he doesn't release players to their clubs then Dunboyne will be giving walkovers every week next term, given Navan couldn't field cos of a stag party i cant see Dunboyne coping with three quarters of their team being away

Ridiculous comment. Anyone in the county who knows Andy knows there's not a hope of him being biased towards dunboyne players or any other team for that matter. He'll pick what he believes are the best players are available to him regardless of what club there from.

To be fair I would have more Dunboyne players currently on the panel anyway!

Well we have a new manager now with new ideas and probably with a different vision for Meath football than O'Dowd so if a club player really wants to line out for Meath, there's no better time to shine.

Dunboyne does have a good team at the minute and certainly a few of their players could push for the Meath panel, if they're up for it.

Story with Donal lenihan?

On fire for his club but can't do it for county.

It's a mental thing. he'll kick an excellent point no problem with club but once he's in a meath jersey in front of 5,000 fans he just can't do it even if he's got loads of time and space. Playing county takes a certain type of player who is mentally tough and I hope he can sort himself out.

Good news with the new manager. Looking forward to the league next year now.

Is it a confidence thing? Or perhaps not been played correctly? Be interesting to see if McEntee can get it out of him.

Never thought Lenihan was a great ball winner which you obviously need to be to play in the corner. He seems to excel out around the middle where he is the centre of play and everything goes through him, he seems to be most effective around the 40 for Dunboyne.

That being said I have seen him play in the corner for Dunboyne and he's done well, but I think it's safe to assume club corner backs aren't as good as county corner backs.

I agree, I watched Lenihan play throughout the league and was really willing him on and supported MOD when he continued to pick him. I think it's a tad unfair if people were to think that his non performance relates to the manager. It might be but one would expect a player rated as highly as he is hear to be able to hold his own in the forward line in the mediocre division 2 that we were in last year. So the jury is definitely out on Lenihan regarding his potential to be a star at county level.

He looks head and shoulders most players at club level. You see lesser players performing better for Meath.Perhaps he needs some inner belief, maybe the next managment team can help him with that.

One can only make one's opinion from what one see's. In club football he is one of the better forwards along with a couple of others. He is the best free taker that I saw in any grade last year and was surprised that he was not the automatic (or one of the automatic) free taker for the county. Playing good football is about a lot of things and a major one is confidence. I would not like to be a county forward with the style being played. Most if not all our defenders (especially the half backs and mid-fielders) were too slow and showed little pace in their delivery into the forwards and that makes life difficult for a county or club forward. Tyrone would have won their match if the had a good free taker

I assume you mean that we will be in an All-Ireland semi final within the next two years. I can't see it happening to be honest (although I would be delighted to be proven wrong). I think the players are just not there to reach that level in the next 2 years. I do believe that Andy McEntee will improve us as a team, but we are way behind the big guns at this stage. We need at least 6-8 new players, and assuming that they are not available in the county at the minute, then we have to wait for them to come through from minor/U-21 teams. Given that, I think a more realistic ambition would be to reach division 1 within 2 years, and an All-Ireland semi within 4. As to when we could win a Leinster, God only knows.
