Replying To Htaem:  "You wouldn't know what will happen, knowing this county board I wouldn't be surprised if Mick O'Dowd got reappointed.

I would love to sit in at Andy McEntee's interview though, I'd say there'll be plenty of home truths!"
Haha. Wash your mouth out with soap.
But knowing cb I wouldn't put it past them.
Again no disrespect to Barry. But this is no contest.

So will everything be sewn up at this cb meeting later on? I'd be hugely disappointed if we can't get Andy in. Obviously he'll have big demands but if the county can back him then hopefully we'll see some return on the playing field

Yeah agree with that. I know the road ahead is a long one, and no doubt it will have ups and downs, but for the first time in awhile I have a sense of hope and and my optimism is returning, now I know its only a managerial appointment and it wont heal all the woes in Meath,
I will ask this of all the detractors, please get behind Andy should he be appointed. I didn't want mod to be appointee last time , however he had my undivided loyalty until the Armagh game in HQ, when i felt he wasn't learning from his mistakes, that loyalty ended on that terrible day v Westmeath, the lowest point ever in my time supporting Meath, i still went to all games this year, but not with the same enthusiasm. So to those who will not agree with the next manager, get behind him 100%.
I feel our future will be brighter than our recent past.
HON The Royal.

While we all want the county team to do well its important whoever is in charge can strike the right balance for players in the club v county debate. Certainly when Andy was minor manager he made it very difficult for players to play for their clubs. That would be my only concern with him. Short term gain at county level but a further deterioration in club football standards. The club scene is fundamental to the GAA and in my opinion any manager who further deteriorates an already fragile situation should not be considered. Hopefully that question will be raised with Andy during any interview for the job and that both he and the county board will have an agreement on that issue should he be offered the job.

To be honest I think the deterioration of Meath club football is our own fault, we allowed it to fall to sh1te years ago by allowing through terrible structural changes, very much against the wishes of Sean Boylan at the time.

As for making players available, that's a tricky one, managers obviously play a big part but it's something that the Gaa themselves really need to address, a more condensed inter-county calendar with a master fixture list (no replays) would surely be a big help to clubs.
