Also...a long shot--what about Benny reddy?"
Why would Paddy Carr be a good choice in your opinion?

Rumours have it that he declined, saying that Andy McEntee was best positioned to take over, now he has not ruled himself out should Andy decline the nomination, and would seriously consider a selector /forwards coaching role if he was asked."
Wouldn't Graham involved, not as manager but involved.

I think Benny was part of Eamon Barry's back room team 2006,look Benny not bad plus he doesn't live under a rock so I guess he knows all about modern Football ! I think in many ways now Bert your only as good as your backroom team..i think Meath football need a bit of a thinktank team for the new Meath manger ! Not the same thing as Sean ,Colm or Gerry !

Glenny on here would be good lad to have on the think tank team :)

A good manager will understand he cannot do everything, so he must surround himself with expertise in all the necessary areas. Command respect but also take advice.

Pretty sure McEntee will get the job infact he may have it already.

Tried posting up why,but they didn't allow it.

All books closed on next Meath manager, again this is a rumour but , allegedly since graham has said he will not let his name go forward and infact is backing Andy there is only one name and that is Andy's, also only other possible candidate is Colm O'Rourke, however he put out feelers and seemingly didn't get much backing. By most accounts its a done deal, thank god, we didn't need a protracted contest, huge admiration must go to GG, he has often spoken of his desire to manage Meath, so shows the standing of the man to not let name go forward , putting county first as he has done so many times on the pitch.

Replying To WhyTheLongFace:  "I actually cant see Tyrone winning a all Ireland any time soon, there a bit like a Monaghan to me !

For example here is the Tyrone forward unit of present

C McShane , N Sludden, P Harte , C McAliskey, S Cavanagh , R O'Neill.

All ireland winning Tyrone forward unit

Brian Dooher ,Sean Cavanagh,Stephen O'Neill,B. McGuigan, O. Mulligan,P. Canavan

There is a massive difference between the two forward units !

Are they a top 3 team ? were Monaghan a top 3 team after winning two Ulster's and a seasoned division 1 team ?

Time will tell..but they do have a good management team !"
That's a little unfair on some of the lads in that Tyrone Unit at 4/6 I think are under the age of 24 and some only have a season or two of championship football under their belt.

You're basically comparing a bunch of young lads to their idols who have had entire careers.

Also in 2008, 3 (McGuigan, Mulligan and O'Neill) of the supposed "stronger" forward unit were on the bench and Canavan was retired yet still Tyrone won the AI, so I don't really agree with your point.

Well some managers have not have put their names forward because they know that Andy is getting in. He has been making phone calls to players already..

It's good that this process is getting done earlier than usual alright, hopefully McEntee does get the job because he does appear to be the best candidate, whether that translates into success or not is another thing.

A long hard road ahead for new manager, but hopefully a bit of light at end of tunnel

I think the ideal Meath manger would be Colm O'Rouke, Haran etc someone who won a All Ireland with in Boylan era. But you cant push someone into a job they dont really want. I think football has really changed in the past 5 years even. I think Meath have been crying out for someone like Andy Mc Antee the past ten years. Banty was a step backwards (old style manager) I never liked his appointment. I was optimistic with MOD at the start I taught he might we the forward looking manger that we need. But it turned out very badly. I don't know much about Andy Mc Antee or the type of football he plays. All I know is his cv. But I am would be very optimistic about A'Mc in charge as he is someone that has very recent silverware. I don't buy into we dont have the players. Sure we have a lot of work to do but. But someone that can make in the cut throat football in Dublin senior championship. Plus other achievements is good enough for me. Plus the fact he sounds like he is up for challenge.

Andy would not be interested if he didn't feel he could do better with Meath.
